dio9191 Beautiful melodies and some great guitar work. Tiny electronic layers work themselves into these largely full band arrangements. You Folk are clearly a very talented bunch! Favorite track: Nolo Contendere.

Libertine 03:30
Big man’s full of ambition, He eats pride, and spits war Bulldozing his way through town, He's a sire, a monarch In his head, best of intentions All for one, but ne’er one for us Young man, chip on his shoulder He rights wrongs, he keeps score He'll inherit the kingdom, With his strife and valor We’d thought they’d have it in for you but it rains on the just and unjust Two long years of trepidation We finally found a way to chase them The afterlife was built on promise It turned its head, but gave no solace Retired thoughts, and expired dreams Cut your losses, retreat End of a long good run Glass half-full, till kingdom come

Endearment 04:10
The word, it had traveled far, you were in disbelief He couldn't have meant no harm, must have had a good reason... ...for it.... ...he swears.... ...you buy.... ....no second..... ....thought of it..... (vouches for him, pushes me down, fragile boy he just slipped up this once raises him up, gently pats head, only strangers can commit such crimes) The man he had set the bar, you'd expect nothing less, If anyone shows the same, they'll receive all your blessing "What if it's true?" she asks, "I just cannot conceive" "Please don't be alarmed" he says, "I'm still the same old me" this does .... ...not change... ...a thing... ...i'm still.... ...family... he grins... ...you shrug... what makes you think I would like to hear that name? tyrant gets your blessing, now he gets free reign should we all bend down and kiss his ugly feet? take back the accusations, admit defeat? "anyone in the man's shoes would do the same, lower your guns there ain't no one here to blame if I knew you before the news, it's okay we all sin a bit at the end of the day" the body it has been maimed, but we can just pretend that it has remained the same, and no use fussing over it lick all your wounds and pray that he has judged you kindly dreadfully await the day where you come in and raid my... ...island, our space to hide in, inside my island, our space to hide in, we braved the storm, pushing through everything pouring down hard, only to find that you hold the culprit in high regard there ain't no peace, ain't no harmony like you so insist, I called out wolf, but you told me such a thing don't exist I don't give a damn if it's not what you want to hear, you don't give a damn if I finish my sentences

We planned your seven-day-long excursion Counted down days till peace and dormancy But in your descent on down that stairwell, I found me longing for your arrival “Nolo contendere”, swears “not guilty” You took the sentence, without the penance You don’t exist when not in my vision It’s all for the best, forbid all protests We planned your seven-day-long excursion Counted down days till peace and dormancy But in your descent on down that stairwell, I found me longing for your arrival By day you dream on endlessly; the nights: all spent reprimanding When you go, we’ll take it back Wretched trek down interstate, I’ll attempt to commiserate We part ways, and find reprieve Contemplating way back when, in backseat of your car, he grins The world: still so new and pure Vacancy inside the den, we're found empty handed again He’s gone, but not gone for good

Resounding low drone, takes up all the space Same old sentences run through again and again King of visions pins 'em down, tells the future knows just how each new move fulfills the dream, all part of his brilliant scheme When misfortune intervenes, he flails about and grits his teeth Perhaps he should let it go, and just leave well enough alone You spent the better part of a year feeding on defeat, every step forward a prelude to a calamity You've finally mustered up the courage to knock 'em all down, but every time you turn, another one pulls you back out King of visions pins 'em down, tells the future knows just how each new move fulfills the dream, all part of his brilliant scheme When misfortune intervenes, he flails about and grits his teeth Perhaps he should let it go, and just leave well enough alone

We build up, then strike down every piece of foundation Once a blue moon, we flock, then go our own separate ways As we age, we spread out, broadcasting every action Not a thought in our heads, as we quietly rearrange We took off, we skipped town to seek out true salvation When we returned, you did not recognize me at all We made our best attempts at decent conversation Then ended the night in deafening complacency Kept it alive, now we could not care less We only gain so much when we invest

Dwindler 04:41
Hands beckoned me to call, I’m ready to shout but I need you on your toes The tide is high, the time is nigh Ain’t a place we got in mind, I’m game to venture far Long as we stay intertwined, I’ll bet there’s hope ahead So I tied a rope around your waist, and fastened it to mine But by the time we reached the point, the knot seemed to unwind, But I tied it back, get back on track I tied it back, get back on track Thin as paper when we’re talking, shaking your fist, we keep trudging on Pin in my side once was nothing, but now I bleed but what for, honey? Falling on old clichés, let’s go back to happier days when the dreams were all I don’t believe, is this what you need? Built this house all ourselves, but now it’s a private hell, dear come back to bed Just simmer down, we’ll figure this out I got a twenty that says we’ll be right on back, Only to find we’ve returned to the cold hard facts, I’d love to bend over backwards keep this intact, But I’ve only so much will left for breaking backs

Autumn 04:33
The fall awakened and confirmed that indeed we’ve been here before Trudge on, we're reeling No longer seeking All the king's horses and his men couldn’t patch us back together again And so we remain seedlings, just teething We spin in violent little circles, When we finally reach the end of the day, we spend our evenings drying off from standing outside in the god-awful rain Trudge on, we’re reeling No longer seeking Day after day, we hardly sleep Day after day, we hardly speak Trudge on, we’re reeling No longer seeking
